Dr Von D Mizell Eula Johnson FL State Park is a beachside Florida park with a unique undeveloped coastal ecosystem. It’s a popular destination for swimming, fishing, boating and picnicking away from the city’s hectic pace.

Boating

Boating is a popular activity at Dr Von D Mizell Eula Johnson FL State Park. The park is located along the Atlantic coastline and offers many amenities including a beach, two boat ramps, trails, seven covered picnic pavilions, and an education center.

The park is open from 8 am till sunset year-round and parking is available for $6 per vehicle. Visitors can also rent kayaks and canoes at the boat launch.

The park was named after civil rights activists Von Mizell and Eula Johnson who fought for the opening of the first African-American beach in Broward County. After a successful wade-in demonstration in 1961, the county agreed to build a road and the former “colored beach” became the state park it is today.

Fishing

A variety of fish, including bluefish, grouper and snappers, can be found in the area’s waterways and reefs. Guests can also enjoy a day out on the water in one of the many kayaks or canoes.
